Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Victor Sepsi

In February 2019, the Diocese of Alexandria publicly named Fr. Victor Sepsi on its list of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of a minor. According to the list, Fr. Sepsi’s file contained multiple allegations of sexual misconduct and abuse of a male minor in 1945.

The Permanent Review Board, which evaluates all allegations of clerical sexual misconduct involving minors, reviewed the evidence and determined the allegations were credible. Further details about the nature and scope of the abuse are not publicly available, neither is a complete record of Fr. Sepsi’s assignment history.

According to news reports in 1966, Fr. Victor Sepsi became known as the “Flying Padre” after flying people—including teenagers—from Shreveport to Dallas, Texas to see the “Sound of Music”.

In 1967, Fr. Sepsi left both the diocese and active ministry. His whereabouts since his departure are unknown. However, according to the diocese, Fr. Sepsi was born in 1930. Therefore, he would have been around 88 years old when the 2019 list was published.
