Summary of Allegations Against Father William Ayres:

Father William Ayres was ordained a priest in 1999 and served in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. He served in multiple parishes throughout his career.  According to media reports, in 2010, Father Ayres was removed from his assignments as parochial administrator, at two parishes after allegations arose that he had had molested a minor in the late 1990s while he was serving at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. The Archdiocese had notified the District Attorney’s Office, and Father Ayres was moved from St. Michael’s to Villa Saint Joseph, in Darby, a home for retired priests, including some who have been accused of sexual abuse.

This was the first allegation of sexual abuse that the Archdiocese had received regarding Father Ayres. However, the civil suit filed in 2011 accuses the priest of abusing another youth from 1996 through 1999 at Incarnation of Our Lord Parish in Philadelphia when Ayres was the seminarian.
