Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father William J. McCashin:

Father William McCashin as ordained a priest in 1915. According to media reports, in February 2004, he was one of three priests named in a lawsuit alleging that the leaders of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh protected and reassigned priests they knew or should have known were sexually abusing children.

The oldest accusation is against Father McCashin. The complaint alleges that the priest molested an 8-year-old boy at St. Philip parish, Crafton, in 1965, when McCashin would have been 75 years old. The diocese did not receive an accusation until April 2002. His accuser reportedly received counseling.

McCashin died in 1967.
