Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Deacon Charles J Comito:
In 2007, the Diocese of Trenton quietly removed Dn. Charles J Comito after sexual abuse allegations were made against him. The exact details of those allegations have not been provided to the public, however, the Diocese of Trenton recently added Comito’s name to an ever-growing list of clergy members with credible charges against them first published in February 2019. It is only noted that there has been one alleged victim.
Comito also worked as the Diocese of Trenton’s Family Life Education Coordinator. During the 1970s and 1980s, Comito and his wife would travel giving seminars to parish parents on how to better instruct their children on abstinence and sexuality.
Comito died in 2015 in Lake Placid, Florida.
