Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Mark Plaushin:

Father Mark Plaushin was ordained a priest of the Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales in 1989, who served in parishes in the Diocese of Scranton. According to media reports, in Father Plaushin, a retired Army chaplain at Our Mother of Consolation in Chestnut Hill Pennsylvania parish since 2013, was placed on leave in 2018 after an allegation that he had sexually abused a minor in 1985 in Monroe County Pennsylvania, four years prior to his ordination. Plaushin denied the allegation.

The allegation was reportedly shared with parishioners by the assistant provincial for the Oblates, in an announcement at Masses the following weekend. In addition, letters were sent by the parish pastor, the Rev. Bob Bazzoli, to all registered parishioners as well as school and PREP religious education families.

According to Plaushin’s public Facebook page, he is currently living in Lithuania.  His current status as a priest is unclear; he may be working in active ministry.

Unlike many other members of religious orders who have been accused of sexual abuse, Plaushin’s name does not appear on the Diocese of Scranton’s 2018 list of credibly accused priests.
