Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Joseph Di Peri:
Father Joseph Di Peri was ordained a priest in 1999 and served in the Archdiocese of Newark. He served in multiple parishes throughout his career. According to media reports, he was removed from ministry in New Jersey in 2003 after the Archdiocese of Newark learned he had been credibly accused of molesting a teenage boy in the late 1970s at Chaminade College Preparatory High School in West Hills, Calif.
In February 2019, the Archdiocese of Newark released a list of 63 priests “credibly accused” of child sex abuse. One of the names that had been listed was Father Di Peri. The only specifics provided by the Archdiocese of Newark were the parishes and schools to which Father Di Peri was assigned during his career, and the number of victims known to the Archdiocese.
Father Di Peri was listed as having one credible accusation of sexual abuse against him. No specifics were provided as to the age/gender of the victim, nor his assignment at the time of the abuse.
He died in 2007.
