Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father John Doolan:
Fr. John Doolan was ordained a priest in 1963, serving in several dioceses, including the Diocese of Albany. According to media reports, in 1999, sexual abuse allegations by Doolan were reported. Documents do not state how many allegations were lodged against him, but he admitted to “abuse of minors” in the 1960s and 1970s. In 2002, Doolan was sent to Murray-Weigel Hall, the Jesuit New York Province’s infirmary and retirement home on campus at Fordham University.
In January 2019, his name was included on a list of Jesuit priests who served in the Federated States of Micronesia between the 1950s and 1990s who have had “credible claims of sexual abuse of minors” against them.
Doolan was permanently removed from ministry in 2006 and died in May 2008.
