Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Father James Williams:

Father James Williams was a priest of the Marianist religious order that worked in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. He was the President of Chaminade High School, an all-boys institution, from 1999 until he resigned in 2011. According to media reports, in 2015, a letter containing allegations that he sexually abused a Chaminade High School student in 2011 was sent to the school. It was later forwarded to the Nassau District Attorney. According to the DA’s office, the alleged acts were described as misdemeanor sexual abuse but suggested that it may have occurred when the victim was 18 years old. Father Williams “completely denied” the allegations.

In May 2016, Father Williams was suspended from the Marianist order after a 15-month investigation into the allegations of sexual abuse of a minor were deemed “credible.”

In 2019, an allegation that Father Williams sexually abused a child was made by another alleged victim to the Diocese of Rockville Centre’s Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program. In a lawsuit filed under the NY Child Victims Act, he was accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old Chaminade student from 1990 to 1993. He was charged with sexual battery in the suit.

His last known whereabouts are Rome, Italy, where he was studying to get his Ph.D. It is believed he currently lives in the greater New York City area.
