Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Father Thomas McConaghy:

Father Thomas McConaghy was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Norwich, Connecticut in 1981 and has served at churches in Pawcatuck and Middlefield before he was named administrator of Sacred Heart and St. John’s in 1998 and pastor in 1999. According to media reports, in March 2005, he was removed from ministry amidst an allegation that he sexually abused a male student when he was commandant of LaSalle Military Academy in Oakdale, New York on Long Island. The alleged abuse occurred from 1973 to 1975, while he was a LaSalle Christian Brother, before his ordination.

The Diocese of Norwich reportedly informed the Diocese of Rockville Centre of the allegation. He denied the allegation. In February 2019, Father McConaghy’s name was included in the Diocese of Norwich’s list of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors.

It is is believed he is currently living in Rumford, Rhode Island.
