Diocese of Rockville Centre

Ordained: Unknown

Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Priest S:

In 2003, the Suffolk County Grand Jury released a report of accusations made against 23 Roman Catholic priests in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. The priests, whose names were omitted, were identified only by letters in the report. According to the report, the identity of Priest S is believed to be unknown.

It stated he “was accused of fondling and raping four teenaged girls in his parish. After residential treatment both the facility and the Diocesan priest who was acting as a support person for Priest S, and who happened also to be a medical doctor specializing in psychiatry, both recommended that he not be returned to his parish. For some unexplainable reason the Diocese disregarded this advice and returned Priest S to his parish. This parish had an elementary school attached to it.”

The report went on to describe how, “The victims had all been severely traumatized by their abuse, one had attempted suicide and the others dealt regularly with depression and anger.”
