Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Francis Andrew Perry:

Fr. Francis Andrew Perry was ordained a priest in 1998 at the age of 53, and served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Raleigh. According to media reports, in 2002, he was placed on leave amidst an allegation that he sexually abused a child prior to his ordination.

Specifically, in March 2002, the Diocese of Raleigh received a letter describing an incident involving Fr. Perry and a 4-year-old female relative decades earlier, when he was a teen-ager. The letter also mentioned another incident 15 years earlier when the priest, not yet a Catholic priest, was charged with taking indecent liberties with a minor. When the victim refused to testify, the charge was dropped.
Fr. Perry only admitted to the abuse of the female relative, but denied the other charges. He also appealed to the Vatican for a review of the case.

Fr. Perry’s name appears on the Diocese of Raleigh’s October 2018 list of accused clergy.
