Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Father Gabriel Massaro:

Father Gabriel Massaro was the founder and longtime head of the Capuchin’s Northeast Youth Ministry program and “Day by Day Agape,” a retreat program for teens. He also led youth training sessions at churches on Long Island, including St. Margaret of Scotland in the Diocese of Rockville Centre.

According to media reports, in 2002, Father Massaro was accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy from St. Margaret of Scotland during weekend retreats in 1979 in Garrison. He was removed from Blessed Sacrament in Manchester, and placed on leave after the Capuchins received an allegation that he had abused a Queens boy at the Glenclyffe, Garrison retreat facility in 1986. He reportedly also abused several other boys during weekend trips to Garrison.

He remained a priest without privileges and moved to St. Lawrence friary in Beacon, New York.  After leaving the Friary in approximately 2015, Massaro was transfer to Sacred Heart Monastery in Yonkers, which is in close proximity to an elementary school and high school.
