Summary of Abuse Allegations against Monsignor Joseph Thang Xuan Pham:
In 2006, Monsignor Joseph Thang Xuan Pham was the Chair of the Federation of Vietnamese Catholics in the U.S.A. According to media reports, in July 2011, he was removed from ministry at St. John’s in Dinwiddie, after a complaint of sexual abuse of a minor was received. The alleged abuse occurred more than 30 years earlier while he was attending St. Joseph Seminary in St. Benedict, Louisiana. The Diocese of Richmond investigated the allegation, and said in a statement that Monsignor Pham “admitted the accusation is true and the incident did occur.”
In February 2019, his name appeared publicly on the Diocese of Richmond’s list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. His current whereabouts are unknown.
