Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father August Kita:
Father August Kita was a member of the Salesians of Don Bosco order. He worked at Hope Haven in Marrero and held various positions as teacher, director and pastor at many locations across the country. He retired to Don Bosco Tech in Paterson, NJ in 1997. He died at Northern Riverview Nursing Home in Haverstraw, NY in 2008.
According to media reports, in 2006, an allegation of child sexual abuse was received. In Fall 2009, the claim was included with the Archdiocese settlement of almost $5.2 million.
In November 2018, Father Kita‘s name appeared publicly on the Archdiocese of New Orleans’ list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. No information regarding the allegation including age/gender of the victims was disclosed.
