Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father John A. Weber:
Father John Weber was ordained in 1945 and incardinated into the Diocese of Baton Rouge when it was formed in 1961. He retired in 1995 and died in 2000.
According to media reports, in November 2018, his name appeared publicly on the Archdiocese of New Orleans’ list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. It indicated an allegation was received in 2005, relating to sexual abuse by Weber in the 1940s.
In early 2019, Weber’s name appeared publicly on the Diocese of Baton Rouge’s list, which noted an allegation of abuse in 1956. The abuse allegedly occurred while Weber was assigned to Assumption of the BVM in Plattenville, and was received but the Baton Rouge Diocese in March 1996.
In March 2022, Horowitz Law filed a lawsuit against the Diocese of Baton Rouge for a man sexually abused between 1975 and 1976, while Weber was assigned to St. Charles Borromeo in Baton Rouge, according to papers filed in court.
