Summary of Abuse Allegations against Monsignor Thomas F Brady:
Msgr. Thomas F Brady retired from ministry in 2009. According to media reports, in October 2011, he was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy in the rectory at Good Shepherd, where he continued living after retirement. According to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office, his charges included two counts of attempted sex abuse in the 2nd and 3rd degree, an attempted criminal sexual act in the 2nd degree, and endangering the welfare of a child. He was immediately placed on administrative leave.
“[Brady] exposed himself and shoved his hands down my son’s pants,” the alleged victim’s father said.
During their investigation, diocesan officials learned Brady had allegedly sexually abused another minor boy the same day but at different times. In May 2012, the Grand Jury failed to indict him citing not enough evidence, however, he remained on “forced administrative leave.” He died in March 2013.
In February 2019, Brady’s name appeared on the Diocese of Brooklyn’s list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors.
