Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Brother David Johnson:

Br. David Johnson, a member of the Franciscan Friars of the Province of St. Barbara, served in the Diocese of Fresno. According to media reports, in 2004, he has been named in at least six lawsuits, five of which were civil, alleging child sexual abuse from 1974 to 1982. (He admitted to being a molestation victim himself.) The abuse occurred while he served at St. Anthony Seminary, where he was an alum, in Santa Barbara, CA. In 2001, Fr. Johnson reportedly left the order and was laicized.

In 2019, Br. Johnson was included in the Franciscan Friars Province of Santa Barbara’s List of Franciscan Friars from the St. Barbara Province with Credibly Claims of Sexual Abuse of a Minor. According to this list, reports were made in 1993, 2006, 2007, and 2009 alleging that Br. Johnson sexually abused minors. Br. Johnson was also included in the Archdiocese of Seattle’s List of Clergy, and Religious Brothers and Sisters for Whom Allegations of Sexual Abuse of a Minor Have been Admitted, Established, or Determined to be Credible.

As of 2016, Br. Johnson was believed to be living in Hurricane, Utah. Whether he has access to children is unknown.
