In 2019, an allegation of abuse of a minor was brought against Fr. John J Lynch. According to media reports, the allegation was said to have occurred in the 1980s and was deemed “credible and substantiated” by the Archdiocese of New York’s independent Lay Review Board.

Lynch had served as administrator of Immaculate Conception since 1996 until the allegation surfaced. Lynch, who denied the allegation, was placed on administrative leave in 2019. The Archdiocese of New York has reportedly removed Lynch from ministry.
