Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Robert J Post:

Fr. Robert J Post was a member of the Congregation of Christian Brothers and took his perpetual vows in 1965. He left the order and was ordained a priest in the Diocese of Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1982. As a brother, he worked as a teacher, was a principal in Canada, Italy, and at Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons High School in Schenectady, New York.

“Father Bob” served as an assistant or was in residence at parishes in Bethel, Darien, and Stamford. He was also a spiritual director for many high schools, including in Norwalk and Danbury. Post served as the parochial vicar of St. Thomas More and was chaplain to the Stamford Fire Department. He spent his summers at an American Catholic Church in Rome.

According to media reports, in 2007, Post was accused in a lawsuit of having engaged in improper behavior with male Blessed Sacrament students in New Rochelle in the 1970s. As of 2012, at least three former students had come forward alleging that they had been sexually abused by him as teens when Post was a religious brother. The three cases were part of a legal case against the Irish Christian Brothers.

In December 2019, his name appeared on the Diocese of Albany’s list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. Post retired in 2015 and has since been living in a residence for retired priests in Stamford, Connecticut.
