Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Martin O’Loghlen:

Fr. Martin O’Loghlen was ordained a priest of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in 1961, who served in multiple parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. According to media reports, in 1995, he was accused of sexually abusing a girl at Bishop Amat High School in La Puente during the late 1960s. The victim reported it to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles after Fr. O’Loghlen renewed contact with her. Fr. O’Loghlen admitted to the sexual abuse, which included intercourse, and a civil lawsuit was filed.

Within ten months of receiving the complaint, the Los Angeles Archdiocese had Fr. O’Loghlen join their Sexual Abuse Advisory board. From 2003 to 2008, Fr. O’Loghlen worked in the Philippines and then returned back to California. In 2011, Fr. O’Loghlen was removed from his assignment at Holy Name of Mary in San Dimas, where he had been for two years.

The Archdiocese admitted it “did not fully consult records” that showed he had admitted to a sexual ‘relationship’ with a high school girl in the 1960s. Fr. O’Loghlen reportedly had his priestly duties revoked in 2011. Fr. O’Loghlen was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ 2004 list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors.
