Father Phillip Kavanaugh was ordained a priest in 1973, who served in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He known for his support of progressive causes. According to media reports, he was placed on leave in 2002 following allegations that he sexually abused a child from about 1973 to 1974, while assigned to Cathedral Chapel. The Los Angeles Police Department investigated the claims. In 2004, his name appeared on the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. As of 2016, he was believed to be residing in Cathedral City, CA. His current whereabouts are unknown.
