Summary of Abuse Allegations against Brother Gus Hootka:

Brother Gus Hootka was a member of the Franciscan Friars, who served in multiple parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He died in 2007. According to media reports, he was accused of sexually abusing children from 1956 to 1957 while he served at Old Mission in Santa Barbara. The incidents were reported in 2018. In May 2019, his name appeared on the St. Barbara Province’s list of credibly accused Franciscan Friars. The details of the allegations are unknown. It also appeared on the Diocese of Las Cruces List Updated in June 2019. It noted the abuse occurred elsewhere.
