Summary of Abuse Allegations against Monsignor George Scott:

Monsignor George Scott was ordained a priest in 1925, who served in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He was the longtime pastor of Mary Star of the Sea Church of San Pedro, known as “the fishermen’s church.” From 1946 until his retirement in 1975, he led a parish that included thousands of Italian and Croatian fishermen and their families.  He eventually directed the building of a new convent, an elementary school and high school, an auditorium and a new church.

According to media reports, in December 2003, he was named in a lawsuit alleging that he sexually abused both a boy and a girl, ages 7 or 8, between approximately 1947 and 1958, while he worked at Mary Star of the Sea. The claims against him were included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ 2007 $660 million settlement of over 500 claims.

Monsignor Scott died in 1986. His name appeared on the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors.
