Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Brother Raimond Rose:

There have been at least 20 lawsuits filed against both Br. Raimond Rose and the Christian Brothers Order. The allegations state that Rose used his position as a teacher to abuse victims sexually and that the Order did nothing to protect students from future abuse after learning of his early attacks.

According to media reports, the plaintiff claims that when he was 15 or 16 years old, Rose sexually abused him while the two were at Dunrovin Christian Brothers Retreat Center in St. Croix, Minnesota.

A member of Chicago’s Christian Brothers of the Midwest, Rose taught high school at Catholic schools throughout Minnesota, New York, North Dakota, Wisconsin, and California for decades beginning in the 1960s. Reports of Rose sexually abusing students made their way to the Christian Brothers as early as 1966, yet he continued to teach and travel with students on overnight retreats for years.

Rose was removed from ministry in 2002, nearly 40 years after the Christian Brothers first learned he had abused students. According to public records, Rose continued to live in a Christian Brothers Community in Chicago.

Rose is listed on the Diocese of Oakland list in 2019 and on the Diocese of Fargo list in 2020 of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of a minor.

He died in 2015.
