Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Stephen Emmett Speciale:

Father Stephen Emmett Speciale was a member of the Jesuit religious order, who served in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. According to media reports, in 2003, he was named in a civil lawsuit alleging child sexual abuse. He was named in another 2004 lawsuit of sexually abusing an 11-year-old boy on the grounds of Our Lady of Sorrows on at least two different occasions from approximately 1985 to 1986.

Father Speciale was dismissed from the order in December 1989. The claim against the priest was settled in 1993 for $60,000. His name appeared on the 2004 Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. his name was also included on the Jesuits West Province list in 2018. It noted a 1991 report of child sexual abuse. His current whereabouts are unknown.
