Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Gary Uhlenkott:

Fr. Gary Uhlenkott was ordained a priest in 1980. He was a professor of music at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, and also served in the Diocese of San Jose. According to media reports, in April 2013, Uhlenkott’s apartment was raided by federal agents with a warrant showing that he spent over $1600 over the span of 3 years on child pornography. He was removed from his job at Gonzaga University and sent to Sacred Heart Jesuit Center in Los Gatos, California.

In addition, documents say Uhlenkott admitted to receiving/downloading hundreds of child pornographic images of young boys from the Toronto Film Company but said he had never made any actual sexual contact with a minor child.

In February 2018, Uhlenkott pleaded guilty to child pornography in the 2nd degree. In May 2018, he was sentenced to 6 months in jail.  That same year, his name was included on the Jesuits West Province list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. It noted allegations of child sexual abuse related to child pornography reported in 2013.

Uhlenkott’s current whereabouts and whether he has access to children are unknown.
