Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Joseph Cinesi:

Fr. Joseph Cinesi was ordained in 1980.

According to media reports, in 1999, a man told police the year prior that Cinesi had sexual contact with him about 100 times when he was 12-15 years old in the late ’70s- early ’80s. In 1999, Cinesi stepped down from St. Maurice Catholic Church, saying he wanted to fight false allegations.

Media reports state that Cinesi propositioned and stalked the accuser in 1998 while Cinesi was assigned to Saint Jerome Catholic Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The plaintiff’s attorney stated that Cinesi sent nude photos to the plaintiff. Another accuser came forward claiming that Cinesi hugged him and touched him inappropriately while Cinesi was assigned to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hialeah, Florida.

The Archdiocese of Miami has settled at least five claims and/or lawsuits against Cinesi between 1999 and 2001. In 2004, another civil suit was filed alleging abuse of a boy in 1978-79. The case settled the same year.

Cinesi’s current whereabouts are unknown.
