Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Lawrence Redmond:

In 1995, Fr. Lawrence “Larry” Redmond was named in a lawsuit against Orlando’s Diocese, alleging that Redmond sexually abused a 15-year-old relative in 1980. The diocese settled with at least six men who claimed abuse by Redmond when they were minors. After accusations became public in 1994, Redmond was placed on leave and later retired.

Redmond died in 2006. A new suit filed in 2011 was filed by a victim alleging that Fr. Redmond sexually abused him in 1974, at the age of nine or ten. According to the suit, Fr. Redmond was in charge of summer sleep away camp for boys called Camp San Pedro when he met the boy and singled him out to accompany him on trips to the St. Johns River. He also invited him to spend the night at his cabin at Camp San Pedro.

Fr. Redmond died in 2006. He is listed on the Diocese of Orlando’s 2020 List of Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor.
