Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Samuel Curry:

Fr. Samuel T. Curry was named in a civil lawsuit in 2004. According to the lawsuit, Curry was a priest at St. Jude’s Parish in Spencer, 50 miles southwest of Indianapolis. The abuse allegedly occurred from 1976 to 1979, when the girls, who are sisters, were attending church at St. Jude’s.

The suit said the girls would have been 9-12 years old and 12-15 years old when they were abused. The lawsuit claims that the sisters never told anyone of the abuse when they were children and suffered emotional damage. Now, adults, they have undergone therapy and counseling as a result of the abuse.

Fr. Curry was transferred to the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee in 1986.  He died in 1991. Fr. Curry is named on the Archdiocese of Indianapolis’s 2018 list and on the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee’s 2020 list of priests that have been credibly accused of sexual abuse of a minor or minors.
