Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Father Augustine Fernando:

Fr. Augustine Fernando was born in India. A strong believer in the power of prayer, he participated in a healing Mass for more than 4,000 people in his homeland. Fr. Fernando came to the United States in 1991 and worked in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. Known as Father Gus, he was first appointed to St. Vincent de Paul in Elmont, NY.

Fr. Fernando is listed on the Diocese of Rockville Centre’s March 2021 List of Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor. The list states that the alleged sexual abuse occurred while Fernando worked at St. Vincent de Paul Church, sometime between 1992-1998. The details of the sexual abuse allegations, including the victim’s age/gender, are unknown. Fr. Fernando retired in 2014. He is currently in residence at St. Kilian parish in Farmingdale, NY. He continues to practice and perform sermons, conduct prayer groups during monthly healing Masses.
