Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Msgr. Adam Joseph Pfundstein:
Msgr. Adam Joseph Pfundstein was ordained a priest in 1925. He served as professor of classics at the Cathedral College Preparatory Seminary in Brooklyn from 1925 to 1941 and as pastor of St. John’s Church in Riverhead from 1941 to 1948. The church, rectory and school were built under his leadership.
Msgr. Pfundstein’s name is listed on the Diocese of Rockville Centre’s 2021 List of Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor. The list states that the alleged sexual abuse occurred while Msgr. Pfundstein worked at Notre Dame Church in New Hyde Park, NY, sometime between 1948-1973. The details of the sexual abuse allegations, including the victim’s age/gender, are unknown. Msgr. Pfundstein died in 1973, at the age of 71.
In April 2021, his name was included on a list of accused priests in a court bankruptcy filing by the Roman Catholic Church.
