Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Patrick J.L Nicholson:
Fr. Patrick J.L Nicholson became an ordained priest in 1969 and working in various parishes in Alabama. Nicholson became a military chaplain for the U.S. Air Force in the Diocese of Little Rock, Arkansas.
Fr. Nicholson was assigned as a chaplain for the Air Force Academy and was reportedly stationed in Colorado Springs in 1983, according to a civil lawsuit filed against him. According to media reports, in 1984, it was alleged that Nicholson forced an 18-year-old cadet into a sexual relationship after the cadet went to Nicholson for counseling. He was discharged from the military in 2000 when the abuse was reported.
In 2003, another woman came forward and alleged that Nicholson sexually abused her when she was 15 years old and living near Montgomery, Alabama. She claimed that Nicholson befriended her and her family. He played tennis with her and her siblings, invited them to watch television, and ate dinner at her house. On one of the nights there, she and Nicholson were watching TV when he started forcefully kissing her and touching her breasts. She claims she pulled away and ran to the bathroom after he grabbed her hand and directed it to his groin. When she came out of the bathroom, the priest started again and told her not to say anything to anyone.
In 2018, Nicholson was included in the Names of Credibly Accused Clergy of Sexual Abuse to Minors Released to the People of the Archdiocese of Mobile.
Fr. Nicholson was removed in 2000 and not allowed to function as a priest. Although still under the authority of local church officials, he now lives in Southern California, according to his last known address..
