Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Br. Everard Booth:
Br. Everard Booth was a prominent Jesuit brother who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Lafayette. According to media reports, in February 2020, he was publicly named on the Jesuit Central and Southern Province list of Jesuits “with credible accusations of sexual abuse of a minor.” The list noted that there is more than one allegation of child sex abuse in the 1960’s against Br. Booth, but does not indicate the dates that the allegations were received, only that they were received after Booth died in a car crash in 1986. Information about the age/gender of his alleged victim/victims and the nature of the alleged sexual abuse was not provided by the Jesuit Central and Southern Province.
Br. Booth worked at Jesuit High School at various times points between 1940-1980. For many years, the school offered a scholarship in his name. It is no longer listed on the school’s website.
Br. Everard Booth died in 1986.
