Summary of Abuse Allegations against Fr. John Audibert:

Fr. John Audibert was ordained a priest in 1967, who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Portland. According to media reports, in 1993 a man filed a complaint of child sexual abuse against Fr. Audibert with the Diocese of Portland. The alleged abuse took place between 1974-1976 when the victim was a teenager. The accuser claimed that Fr. Audibert groomed him with clothing, meals at restaurants, and a vacation to Florida.

Following the complaint, Fr. Audibert was removed from his assignment and sent to a residential treatment center. The Diocese of Portland paid an undisclosed cash settlement to the alleged victim. In 1997, Fr. Audibert returned to the ministry.

In 2002, the Diocese of Portland announced that it would disclose the names of active priests who had been credibly accused of sexual abuse. Subsequently, Fr. Audibert confessed to his congregation at St. Thomas Aquinas in Madawaska that he had sexually abused children. He was then removed from active ministry without privileges.

In 2006, Pope Benedict XVI permanently removed Audibert from the ministry.

As of 2009, Fr. John Audibert was living in Foreside Estates in Falmouth, ME.
