Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Francis Donohue:
Fr. Francis Donohue was was a former Capuchin friar who was incardinated into the Diocese of Alexandria in 1942, and served in the Diocese of Shreveport. According to media reports, in 1966, Bishop Greco of the Diocese of Alexandria asked for and received Fr. Donohue’s resignation as pastor. He was removed from active ministry in 1966.
In 2019, Fr. Francis Donohue was publicly named on the Diocese of Alexandria’s disclosure list of priests accused of sexual misconduct. The list notes that the allegation of sexual abuse in 1960s against Father Donohue was brought before the Permanent Review Board in 2019. After a review, the allegations that Fr. Donohue sexually abused male minors were found credible.
Prior to the founding of the Diocese of Shreveport in 1986, churches in the Shreveport area were under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Alexandria-Shreveport. According to church protocol, the files of accused clergy members remain with the Diocese of Alexandria.
Fr. Francis Donohue died in 1983.
