Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Joseph Murphy:

Fr. Joseph Murphy was ordained a priest in 1988 who served in the Diocese of Norwich. According to media reports, in February 2019, his name was included on the Diocese of Norwich list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. Very little is known of the priest’s activities within the church as Diocesan officials have not released any information about his assignment history. In addition, information about the age/gender of his alleged victim/victims, the nature of the alleged sexual abuse, or Murphy’s assignments at the time of the alleged abuse is unknown. The Diocese has acknowledged that it has paid nearly $8 million to settle nine claims.

Joseph Murphy was removed from ministry in 1998. He died in 2015.
