Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Peter Mitchell:

Fr. Peter Mitchell was ordained to the priesthood in 1951, and served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Norwich. According to media reports, information released in September 2014, showed that Mitchell had been named as a child sexual abuser in a civil lawsuit filed in November 2012. The priest was accused of sexually violating a boy in his car , as well as in his home on Colony Road in New Haven, Connecticut. No criminal charges were filed.

In 2019, Mitchell’s name was included on the Archdiocese of Hartford list with credible allegations of sexual abuse of a minor. He’s also listed on the Diocese of Norwich’s list of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors.

Mitchell retired in 2001 and died in 2016.
