Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. William Cullen:

Fr. William Cullen was ordained a Jesuit priest ordained in 1965, and served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Norwich. He worked as teacher in several schools in Massachusetts and Connecticut and taught classes in history, theology, sociology, English, and theater.

According to media reports, in January 2019, Fr. Cullen was named on the Northeast Province of Jesuits list of Jesuits with “credible allegations of sexual abuse of a minor.” The list notes that the allegation of child sexual abuse in 1995-1996 against Fr. Cullen was received in 2016. The alleged abuse occurred when Cullen was assigned to Nativity Prep in Boston, MA. The details of the allegation, including the information about the age/gender of his alleged victim/victims, and the nature of the alleged sexual abuse are unknown.

In 2019, the Diocese of Norwich included Fr. Cullen’s name on its list of “priests who served in the Diocese of Norwich who had allegations in other places but not in the Diocese of Norwich.” Cullen’s name also appears on the Diocese of Fall River’s list of publicly accused clergy.

Fr. William Cullen died in 2010.
