On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, the Alexander Brothers—Oren, Tal, & Alon—were taken into custody on federal sex trafficking charges in New York City and Florida. State authorities arrested Alon and Oren Alexander for sexual battery. After their first appearance in state court, the are expected to be turned over to federal authorities. Tal Alexander made a brief appearance before a federal judge in Florida that same afternoon and is due back on Friday. Prosecutors in Miami-Dade are working with officials in New York City to figure out the next steps for the two men, including extradition. If convicted of the federal charges, all three brothers could face 15 years to life in prison.
According to multiple news reports, Prosecutors claim the famous real estate brothers and friends have plotted for many years to “repeatedly & violently drug, sexually assault and rape dozens of victims” across New York, Miami, and other places. A newly unsealed indictment accuses them of a scheme from 2011 through 2021; however, officials say these violent acts go back more than 20 years to high school days and relied on deception, fraud, and coercion with brothers flaunting their wealth to induce women to attend parties, events, and trips where they were then attacked. These events were prearranged, using promises of luxury experiences to draw women to places where they were then abused or raped by multiple men, including themselves. The brothers allegedly shared pictures of women to ensure they were “sufficiently attractive.” They used dating apps or social media for contact—or went through party planners, according to the indictment. The Alexanders also obtained drugs like GHB & cocaine, sometimes spiking drinks before assaults. The indictment describes two victims with charges of conspiracy and forcible sex trafficking against them. One unidentified woman also filed a lawsuit on December 11, claiming assault back in 2016.
When was the first report made about the Alexander Brothers?
A North Miami Beach police report from 2003 reveals that a 14 year old Miam high school girl told law enforcement that multiple boys — including Tal, Alon and Oren Alexander — gang raped her at a party after she consumed multiple Xanax and some alcohol. North Miami Beach police officers interviewed several students from Krop High School during their investigation before the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office decided not seek charges against Alon and Oren, both of whom were still in high school at the time of the alleged 2003 rape. The State Attorney’s Office cited inconsistent statements from the victim and contradicting witnesses in reaching its decision.
Who are the Alexander Brothers?
Twins Oren and Alon, 37, and their older brother Tal, 38, were all arrested for sex trafficking. Oren and Tal started at Douglas Elliman Real Estate, focusing on NY and Miami markets, but later launched their own firm in 2022. Oren and Tal made a reputation for themselves in the real estate world for selling high-end, luxury homes to celebrities and the ultra-rich, including to A-listers like fashion designers Tommy Hilfiger and Steve Madden, according to Forbes. They had previously been accused in civil lawsuits of various acts of sexual misconduct. Oren and Alon also face sexual battery charges in their home in Miami Beach, according to arrest warrants. The brothers, who grew up in Miami, are the sons of a wealthy real-estate developer in South Florida. The family also has a private security firm, Kent Security, which Alon works for.
- In 2011, Oren made the Forbes “30 under 30” list for real estate.
- In 2012, Oren and Tal founded the Alexander Team, a division of the Douglas Elliman real estate firm where they worked as brokers, according to The Real Deal.
- In 2019, Oren and Tal sold a $238 million Manhattan condo that is to this day the most expensive private residence ever sold in the U.S., according to Forbes.
- In 2021, Oren and Tal purchased a $10 million waterfront home in Miami Beach to teardown and rebuild with their father.
- The brothers’ father, Shlomy, is an Israeli-born home developer, and their mother, Orly, is the CFO and co-founder of Kent Security. Alon is now president of Kent Security, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Dozens of Accusers
Allegations of sexual misconduct became widely known in June of 2024 after two women filed civil lawsuits against Oren and Alon in which they accused the brothers of rape. After the article was published, the FBI began investigating the brothers, and other lawsuits with similar accusations of sexual misconduct against the brothers followed. More than a dozen women had accused the brothers of rape or assault as of September.
Agents have interviewed many women who’ve reported being forcibly raped or assaulted—even dating back to when these brothers were students in Miami early ‘00s—so they say. All three now face charges for conspiracy around a single incident from 2016 involving one accused victim initially meeting twins via a dating app: supposedly lured from Illinois to NY for Labor Day weekend—the offer came from Oren And Alon’s side, supposedly accepted by the alleged victim. The victim recalls the cocktails served by the brothers was seriously strong, and that potency rendered their bodies speechless.
In a press conference held on Dec.11, Damien Williams, the US attorney for the Southern District of New York, said that the brother’s heinous alleged misconduct dates back to when they were in high school. The number of alleged victims is, therefore, quite significant, and officials expect more to come forward within the next few weeks. William said, “it does take tremendous bravery for victims to speak out, but when they do, other people tend to gather that bravery as well, bravery can be infectious. “
- Law enforcement agents have interviewed dozens of women who reported being forcibly raped or sexually assaulted, including multiple women who report being raped by at least one of the Alexander brothers while they were in high school in Miami in the early 2000s, the letter says.
- All three brothers have been charged with conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and sex trafficking of one victim in 2016.
- The victim connected to that sex trafficking charge alleges she and a friend first met the twins on a dating app.
- The letter says Oren and Alon offered to pay for the women from Illinois to fly to New York and spend Labor Day weekend with the brothers in the Hamptons; the women accepted.
- Oren gave the alleged victim a drink at a house in the Hamptons hours after they arrived. After drinking the cocktail, she was unable to move or speak as Oren raped her, the allegations say.
- Data recovered from Oren’s iCloud account shows all three brothers discussing their weekend plans for an “orgy,” according to the letter.
- The letter details other message threads capturing detailed plans between the brothers and other unnamed men planning international trips where they’d “import” women. One scheme planned for Tulum, Mexico, in October 2016 occurred weeks after the alleged Hamptons altercation.
- In a group WhatsApp chat entitled “Lions in Tulum,” the Alexander brothers and other men attending the trip discussed “imports” of women to Tulum for the upcoming trip and discussed, among other things, splitting the cost of lodging and flights for the women that they planned to “import” and providing drugs to the women that would make them more likely to engage in sex, including “coke, shrooms, and G.”
- A message from Oren in the message thread said, “ Are all girls getting shipped out on Sunday?”
Sex Trafficking Allegations
- Tal Alexander is separately charged with sex trafficking of a second victim in July 2011 while in the Hamptons.
- The alleged victim had planned to go to the Hamptons that weekend with friends.
Tal Alexander and another unnamed man allegedly picked up the woman and her friend from a local train station bringing them to their vacation house. - The woman felt unwell after drinking half a glass of wine given to her at home, according to the prosecutor’s letter.
- “Victim-1’s memory thereafter became hazy but she has several distinct memories of the night,” the letter said. “Specifically, Victim-1 remembers being held down by Tal while another man entered the room. Victim-1 also remembers being in a second location with Tal and the other man and that a camcorder was set up.”
- Her next memory was waking up in the grass outside of the vacation house, the letter says.
- Prosecutors say Tal and Oren took steps to protect their reputations in the real estate industry and conceal their crimes.
- “The Government is aware, for instance, of at least one occasion in which Tal and Oren filed a police report alleging harassment against a woman who has described being forcibly digitally penetrated by Tal while Oren was in the room. Tal also threatened that victim with a defamation lawsuit if she did not stop telling people that he and Oren had sexually assaulted her.”
- Prosecutors in New York want all three brothers imprisoned ahead of their trial, calling them a flight risk and a significant danger to the community.
- The three brothers have faced multiple civil lawsuits alleging they sexually assaulted numerous women.
- According to one lawsuit, Alon and Tal raped a woman in 2012 “in a coordinated sexual assault that was planned and facilitated by Oren Alexander along with his brothers.”
