Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Gerald Royer:

Fr. Gerald Royer was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 1947. He was incardinated into the the Diocese of Allentown when it was formed in 1961.

According to the 2018 PA Grand Jury report, in 2003 a man reported to the Diocese of Allentown that Royer sexually abused him at Ss. Simon and Jude church, where Royer was assigned in 1948 (before the formation of the Diocese of Allentown).  He later testified in the grand jury investigation that he was a fatherless 12 year old boy who was repeatedly abused because Royer was allowed to spend an unlimited amount of time with him.  In 2003, when he first spoke with the Diocese about his abuse, the man says that the Chancery confirmed that Royer had been sent to counseling for other allegations of misconduct as well.
