Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Priest N:

In 2003, the Suffolk County Grand Jury released a report of accusations made against 23 Roman Catholic priests in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. The priests, whose names were omitted, were identified only by letters in the report. According to the report, the identity of Priest N is believed to be unknown.

It stated that “Visiting priests often worked for extended periods of time without ever officially being incardinated in the Diocese. One of these priests, from a country in the South Pacific, sexually abused girls, in at least two parish assignments.” He is known as Priest N.

The parents of one of the girls, a 10-year-old, reported an incident in which Priest N put his hands in her pants while he was a dinner guest at the family’s home. A Diocese official told the mother that the abuse was a ‘cultural misunderstanding.’ Priest N was later removed from ministry and sent him for psychiatric evaluation and treatment. He was eventually was released from the Diocese because it was determined that he was untreatable.
