Pembroke Pines Music School Owner Rakesh Jhaveri Arrested on Charges of Sexually Abusing Teen Student

On November 17, 2025, Rakesh Jagdish Jhaveri, owner of Music Legacies in Pembroke Pines, was arrested and charged in Broward County with 10 counts of lewd and lascivious battery involving a victim between the ages of 12 and 16. The charges stem from an alleged sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student who began taking music lessons with him as early as 2023. Jhaveri, 30, founded Music Legacies in 2018, which is located in the Bergeron Plaza in Pembroke Pines, Florida.

According to the arrest report, the victim’s parents contacted Pembroke Pines Police after discovering explicit conversations between Jhaveri and their daughter on the Discord messaging platform. The victim told detectives that she first met Jhaveri when she was about eight years old because their families were acquainted. She began taking formal lessons again around 2023, when she was 13.

According to media reports, detectives stated that the victim disclosed the relationship began with kissing in the fall of 2023, escalated to digital penetration over the following months, and then to vaginal intercourse by spring 2024. By 2025, she stated they were “mostly engaging in sexual penetration,” estimating between five and ten incidents. She said most of the pair’s inappropriate relations occurred at Jhaveri’s business when he was supposed to be giving her music lessons. Jhaveri allegedly told detectives the same timeline, admitting to engaging in sexual activity with the victim.

The arrest report also notes:

  • Much of the alleged sexual activity occurred at the location where she was receiving music lessons.
  • Jhaveri admitted to messaging the victim through Discord to “assist her with any troubles she was experiencing.”
  • When contacted by police at his home, Jhaveri reportedly said he told his wife he had been “texting a young female.”
  • The incidents allegedly occurred between October 2023 and November 2025 at the business located at 6941 SW 196th Avenue in Pembroke Pines.

Jhaveri was booked into the Broward County Jail on November 17, 2025. The booking sheet lists 10 separate felony counts under Florida Statute 800.04(4)(a), each categorized as a second-degree felony. Bond was initially set to “hold for magistrate.”

Pembroke Pines Police are encouraging any parents whose children took lessons at Music Legacies to contact the Broward County Special Victims Unit.

Safety Concerns for Parents and Students

Cases involving tutors, instructors, and coaches highlight risks associated with unsupervised one-on-one learning environments. Parents should ask about supervision practices, communication rules, and whether lessons take place with visibility or monitoring.

Businesses serving minors must implement safety policies, train staff on boundaries, and ensure digital communication with students is monitored or restricted.

Horowitz Law Is Here to Help

Horowitz Law is a law firm representing survivors of sexual abuse. We have handled multiple cases of sexual abuse by authority figures in schools in private lesson settings, including music schools and other educational environments. It is expected that any institution where children learn and develop skills provides a safe environment — free from violence, harassment, and sexual abuse. Teachers and coaches are entrusted with guiding and protecting students; anyone who violates that trust has no place in education or youth programs.
