Kiymari Johnson, a former summer youth counselor at a Boys & Girls Club location in Deerfield Beach, Florida, has been arrested following allegations that he used his position to develop a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female camper.
According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, Johnson was arrested on August 7, 2026. The report lists multiple charges, including lewd or lascivious conduct and lewd or lascivious battery involving a minor. The case remains pending.
Allegations Against Kiymari Johnson
According to the arrest report, the investigation began after the child’s mother brought the 15-year-old alleged victim to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Building in Fort Lauderdale on August 6, 2026. The mother reportedly told investigators that she had found sexually explicit text messages between her daughter and an adult male.
The alleged victim told investigators that she met Johnson while he was employed as a summer youth counselor at a Boys & Girls Club located at 27 South Dixie Highway, Deerfield Beach, Florida 33441.
Investigators allege that Johnson used his position as a camp counselor to meet and initiate communication with the child. According to the report, Johnson and the alleged victim began communicating on social media, primarily TikTok, around June 30, 2026. The alleged victim reportedly believed they were dating.
Alleged Sexual Abuse and Battery
According to the arrest report, the alleged victim told investigators that she and Johnson engaged in sexual activity on two separate occasions in July 2026. Both incidents allegedly occurred late at night inside Johnson’s vehicle at Highlands Park in Pompano Beach.
The report states that Johnson allegedly helped facilitate the child leaving her residence at night and picked her up in his vehicle. During the first alleged incident, the child reportedly told investigators that Johnson had sexual intercourse with her and that oral sex also occurred. According to the report, Johnson allegedly discarded evidence afterward.
The alleged victim also reported a second incident on July 18, 2026, again during late-night hours at the same park and inside the same vehicle. Investigators allege that Johnson did not use a condom during the incidents.
The arrest report states that Johnson later admitted to police that he met the child at Highlands Park, gave her marijuana, and that oral sex occurred inside his vehicle. Investigators also reported reviewing sexually explicit text messages that they believed corroborated the alleged victim’s statements.
Boys & Girls Club Counselor Allegedly Used Position to Access Child
This case raises serious questions about youth-serving organizations and their responsibility to protect children from inappropriate relationships with employees, counselors, volunteers, or other adults in positions of trust.
According to the arrest report, Johnson was not the alleged victim’s assigned counselor group. However, investigators allege that he used his position at the Boys & Girls Club to gain access, meet and communicate with her.
Youth-serving organizations, including camps, schools, after-school programs, and community centers, have a duty to properly screen, train, and supervise employees and volunteers. When an employee uses a position of trust to groom, exploit, or abuse a child, the organization may face legal scrutiny regarding what it knew, what it should have known, and whether it had adequate safeguards in place.
Legal Options for Survivors of Sexual Abuse in Youth Programs
Children should be safe in camps, after-school programs, and youth organizations. Parents trust these institutions to provide supervision, structure, and protection. When that trust is violated, families deserve answers.
Survivors of sexual abuse involving youth counselors, camp employees, teachers, coaches, or other adults in positions of authority may have civil legal options, even if a criminal case is still pending or the accused person has not been convicted.
A civil lawsuit can investigate whether an organization failed to properly supervise an employee, ignored warning signs, failed to enforce appropriate boundaries, or allowed an unsafe adult to gain access to children.
