Fr. Robert D. Moss – Diocese of Buffalo

Father Robert Moss

Ordained: 1969

Died: 2018

Assigned as follows:

  •  Queen of Heaven (West Seneca, NY)

Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Robert Moss:

According to media reports, in May 2018, a woman told a broadcast news station that Father Robert Moss (aka "Father Bob") kissed her and exposed himself to her on multiple occasions at her home in the 1990s. At the time, she was in her early 20s, and he was a chaplain in the Army National Guard and a priest at Queen of Heaven in West Seneca.

The woman said, "He would come over to my house and I always felt uncomfortable because he would kiss me on the lips, and then he started rubbing himself against me. After that it escalated to him exposing himself in my house."

She said she reported the alleged abuse to church officials within the Diocese of Buffalo years later, but there was no investigation, no action was taken.

The news station spoke to another woman who said Father Moss sexually attacked her when she went to him for counseling. He was later transferred from Queen of Heaven and assigned to a Catholic Church in Sloan. In November 2018, Father Paul Keeling's name was included in the Diocese of Buffalo's updated list of priests with substantiated claims of sexual abuse of a minor. The original list was published in March 2018, and includes deceased priests only if they have more than one allegation. Father Moss died in 2018. In August 2019, he was named in a lawsuit filed under the NY Child Victims Act.

Horowitz Law is a law firm representing victims of sexual abuse in the Diocese of Buffalo and throughout New York. The Diocese of Buffalo filed for federal bankruptcy protection in February 2020. Anyone sexually abused by a priest or employee of the Diocese of Buffalo may be entitled to file a claim against the Diocese in these bankruptcy proceedings, but very strict filing deadlines apply. Most victims of abuse in the Diocese of Buffalo will never be able to take action against the Diocese of Buffalo if they miss this bankruptcy filing deadline, so it is important that you contact us immediately to discuss your potential case.
