Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father John Sardina:
According to media reports, in late September 2018, another retired priest was suspended from the ministry in the Diocese of Buffalo due to sexual abuse allegations. The Diocese announced that Father John Sardina, 86, was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation. His alleged accuser claimed she was only 12-years-old when the abuse occurred in the late 1960's.
Although he denied the claims against him, Father Sardina did admit to being sent to counseling during his priesthood due to "consensual" sex he had with women. According to media reports, he returned to active ministry in March 2019, after the Diocesan Review Board deemed the allegation unsubstantiated. Father Sardina currently lives in a residence for retired priests in Depew.
