Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Theodore Podson:
Father Theodore Podson was ordained to the priesthood in 1976. In 1993, he resigned from his job at Devon Prep School in Pennsylvania amidst allegations that he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old boy. He was sent to St. Luke's Institute, a church-run hospital in Maryland that treated clergy members for sexual disorders. Following treatment, he moved to Texas, and was taken in by St. Francis Church in Amarillo.
Father Podson was one of five religious order priests identified as "guilty of sexual misconduct with a minor," on a list compiled by Msgr. William J. Lynn in 1994. According to media reports, in 2003, he relocated to the South Pacific. However, Father Podson was not publicly identified, charged or barred from active ministry until 2012. He reportedly lives in an apartment in close proximity to teenagers.
In November 2019, Father Podson was named in a lawsuit alleging that he sexually abused a minor boy while serving as priest and educator at Calasanctius School of Buffalo. His name appears on the Buffalo Diocese's updated list of priests who have been accused of sexual misconduct.
