Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Msgr. William Stanton:

Msgr. William Stanton was ordained to the priesthood in 1949. He spent more than two decades as pastor of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in South Buffalo. According to media reports, in November 2018, the Diocese of Buffalo released an updated list of accused priests with substantiated claims of sexual abuse of a minor. One name that was added was Msgr. William Stanton. Priests who received a single allegations after their death were not included, and the only information provided was the year of death.

Msgr. Stanton died in 2004.

In August 2019, he was named in a lawsuit filed under the Child Victims Act in New York. Twenty-three plaintiffs joined together in a lawsuit alleging child sexual abuse in Catholic churches and schools, and asserting that the Buffalo Diocese was aware and hiding assets.
