Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father James Kilgour:
According to media reports, in 1987, a lawsuit was filed alleging that Father James Kilgour sexually assaulted a 13-year-old altar boy in 1980 and 1981. The suit claimed he introduced him to all aspects of a homosexual lifestyle and continued to make sexual advances on the boy throughout the years until 1987. Father Kilgour was reportedly the boy's teacher and counselor at Our Lady of the Lake in Mandeville. He was placed on leave from his position at St. Pius X.
Three other priests including Vince Feehan, Joseph Chotin, and Charles Fendin were also accused of making sexual advances or of showing porno to the victim. The suit was settled in April 1991, but Father Kilgour did not assume responsibility for any wrongdoing.
In November 2018, his name appeared publicly on the Archdiocese of New Orleans' list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. His current whereabouts are unknown.
