Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Brian Bjorklund:
Father Brian Bjorklund was ordained a priest in 1966, who served in the Diocese of Fresno. According to media reports, in June 2003, the Archdiocese of Detroit removed him from active duty in ministry. A man came forward with allegations of abuse by Bjorklund early in his career. The victim claimed that Brian Bjorklund tried to have sex with him as a 16-year-old boy. No criminal charges were filed against him, but a separate review board found the charges to be substantive. The information was brought to the Michigan Police Department, who did not follow with an investigation due to the amount of time passed since the abuse.
A year later, Bjorklund was reinstated as a priest after Vatican officials said that the alleged contact was not a violation of church law at the time in the 1970's. However, the Navy would not take him back as Chaplain. In 2005, he began to work at the Miami Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Florida.
In September of 2007, Brian Bjorklund died in Tampa, Florida.
