Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father John Crowley:
Originally from Ireland, Fr. John Crowley was involved with multiple accusations, with the first reported to the Sacramento Diocese in 1988. Allegations of sexual abuse to a female under the age of 14 were said to have occurred during his tenure between 1971 and 1985. The complaint was deemed credible by the Diocese of the Sacramento review board, and Crowley was removed from his faculties in 1988. Another claim was then reported to the Sacramento Diocese in 2019, stating that Crowley had sexual intercourse with an 18-year old female during his time at the church.
Crowley then went on with a career in social work, eventually settling in Chico, California, in the 1990s. Later, he worked in Red Bluff in the care of foster children and family placement until his ill health prevailed.
Crowley was included on the Diocese of Sacramento 2019 list of priests credibly accused of child sexual abuse.
Crowley died in 2011. No other claims have been reported about his time after the priesthood, yet.
